Our Story

From Northern Malaysia, Naturally

Our journey with agarwood began with a love for fragrance.

Based in northern Peninsular Malaysia, we are surrounded by communities with generations of knowledge and experience in finding and harvesting agarwood. What began as a personal fascination with perfume eventually developed into a deeper passion for agarwood — known locally as gaharu and around the world as oud.

At AgarwoodWorld, we bring authentic Malaysian agarwood directly from our local sources to oud enthusiasts, collectors and fragrance lovers around the world.

We work closely with people in the kampung (villages) who harvest agarwood, allowing us to source directly while supporting the local communities behind these remarkable natural materials.

Our focus is primarily on northern Malaysian agarwood, particularly from Kedah, known for its distinctive and complex aromatic character. From time to time, we also source exceptional agarwood from other parts of Malaysia.

Every piece of agarwood is unique.

Its character can vary according to resin content, density, colour, aroma, oil content, shape and origin. Rather than relying on appearance alone, we consider these characteristics together when selecting and grading our wood.
